Yesterday we celebrated World Lion Day. And it was a “roaring” success. Huge thanks to everyone who came along to join in the fun. You helped raise £1000 for our conservation partners. And that’s great news!
Our lion keepers, Fliss and Rosie, were on hand to host a range of fun activities at our Pride of Pembrokeshire enclosure. Lion lucky dip, lion mask-making and guess the number of lion keyrings as well as a raffle and auction helped raise an impressive £846.73. But we don’t like odd numbers so we’ve topped this up to a nice round £1000.
Fliss and Rosie worked hard to make a real celebration of World Lion Day not least getting our pride involved in some art classes. The lions got hands-on, or rather paws-on, to produce some truly original works of art for use as raffle and auction prizes. Vincent van Gogh’s got nothing on Hugo!
Our visitors showed us their best lion faces for a chance to win a family ticket to Folly Farm. We’ll be announcing the best #lionface soon so please keep checking our Facebook page if you submitted a photo.
Just for fun our very own Folly Farmers joined in too!
The celebrations were rounded off with a behind the scenes tour of our lion enclosure for our World Lion Day competition winners. Jessica Ferguson and her daughters Ruby and Madelaine were thrilled to spend time with our lion keepers and check out our pride’s private quarters.
