What better way to mark the longest day of the year than celebrate our tallest residents! Not only was Wednesday 21st June 2017 the summer solstice, it was also World Giraffe Day.
We decided that we would start the celebrations early this year, so, on Saturday 17th June we had our own World Giraffe day party! It went so well…we just want to say a big ‘giraffe sized’ thank you to all those who ‘stuck their necks out’ and contributed.
It was a ‘tall order’ to reach our fundraising goal, but through your kind generosity, we are delighted to announce that we will be handing over a cheque for £1000 to our conservation partner – the Giraffe Conservation Foundation.
There were plenty of giraffe related activities in the form of games, competitions, raffles and crafts. All with one simple aim – raise money for these iconic creatures. Our giraffe had been very busy making paintings to give away as prizes and the keepers made key-rings out of collected giraffe tail hair (don’t worry – the hairs drop out all the time)…
Our giraffe keepers, Pippa and Rachel, worked tirelessly throughout the day to ensure that everyone walked away from Giraffe Heights with a smile on their face and a little more knowledgeable about giraffes!
Pippa said:

Rachel added:
[Pullout]This money will go a long way to help the GCF as they work towards a sustainable future for populations of wild giraffe. Thank you Folly Farmers…you’re the best.[/Pullout]
