We loved seeing the internet explode with people’s World Book Day costumes
Some of our staff spent hours (in my case minutes!) crafting outfits and accessories for their kids’ World Book Day celebrations and our zoo team naturally couldn’t let the day pass unmarked!
With our animal’s welfare the highest consideration dressing up was obviously out of the question! Although the thought of giving the penguins a bow tie was tempting…”the name’s Guin. Pen-Guin.”
So, the zoo keepers focussed on the book bit of World Book Day and what reading material do our keepers and our animals enjoy? Well, funny you should ask…

Our bongos are big David Attenborough fans!

Our keepers, live, breathe and read wildlife

Sillan to Taharqa: “Well, I didn’t know giraffes could do that!”
