Well shiver me timbers…February half term saw the debut of our new theatre show “Black Bart’s Pirate Folly”.
And it had everyone shouting “oooh arrrrrrrgggghh me hearties!”
We’ve teamed up with the Fluellen Theatre Company, based in Swansea, to bring you this brand new pirate-themed show written exclusively for us and featuring the legendary Pembrokeshire pirate Black Bart, known in our native Welsh tongue as Barti Ddu!
You can find out what it takes to become a pirate in this brand new show and join the theatre cast on treasure trails around Folly Farm when they return to Folly Farm at Easter.
Why are we celebrating Black Bart?
Bartholomew Roberts hailed from Casnewydd Bach and it was surely from living in our beautiful coastal county, that his love of the sea was born. But a pirate-life he did not intend. As a serving officer, his ship was captured by another legendary Pembrokeshire pirate Hwyel Davies of Milford Haven. He was given two choices; become a pirate or be skewered! Some choice huh? We’ll be celebrating the epic tales of these legendary pirates throughout Wales’ Year of Legends.
“Come to Folly Farm and play pirate. It’s not just the stuff of legends.”
