Members of our dedicated zoo team set about raising funds for BMAC (Barbary Macaque Awareness and Conservation) and were delighted with the result.
Wildfires are devasting – and we were heartbroken to see the shocking images of the wildfires that have been raging through Bouhachem in Morocco. Not only have the fires destroyed homes and the livelihoods of the villagers – but many, many macaques and other precious wildlife have been killed.
One of our amazing conservation partners, Barbary Macaque Awareness and Conservation have been assisting in every way they can – from evacuating villagers to rescuing any macaques that survived the fires.
To show our support our dedicated zoo team set about holding some extra activities at our own macaque enclosure on Monday 8th August 2022. There were keeper talks, tombola and various games to help raise money to assist the Barbary Macaque Awareness and Conservation team with their efforts. There were lots of great prizes up for grabs and lots of information regarding our macaques and the work of this amazing charity.
Folly Farm zookeeper, event organiser and BMAC Ambassador Kim said:
[Pullout] I just want to say a massive thank you, not only to my colleagues for helping make the day such a success, but also to all those guests who took part in our games and donated to such a worthy cause. Your support is very much appreciated. Thank you. [/Pullout]
The £253.08 raised on the day will be added to the £120.90 raised at a recent quiz evening, giving a grand total of £373.98 being donated to the organisation.
Thank you!
