The Big Dig reopens this weekend but that’s not all we’ve been up to.
We’ve been super busy at the park again this Winter. The Big Dig attraction re-opens this weekend following its makeover, we’ve removed the red and yellow playground ready for an exciting new project, we’ve laid a new patio at Cwtch Coffee, we’ve installed new flooring in the Jolly Barn and Go Kart toilets, we’re installing some fancy covered sails over the outdoor eating area by Funfair Foods, we’re replacing the smaller of our indoor soft play areas, Giraffe Heights is having a makeover and we’re adding themed animal exhibits to our farm paddocks over the road. Phew!
Can you dig it?
In December we took delivery of eight brand new Takeuchi diggers from JDS Machinery in Pencader which also supplies a lot of our larger farm machinery.
We’ve now installed the diggers and re-themed the activities and puzzles ready to open this weekend. So, if you’ve missed your digger fix now’s the time to take back the controls and test your skills.
Please note The Big Dig is an additional charge attraction and takes six tokens, two people per digger. There’s a token exchange machine next door.
New outdoor play area
The time has come to replace the red and yellow wooden playground near the Pembrokeshire Wheel. The demolition work has been done and installation work on the new playground will begin in March.
Here’s a graphic of what the new play area will look like. It’ll hopefully be ready in time for May half term ????
Indoor soft play
We’re also replacing the smaller of our two indoor soft play areas. Work begins on this on Monday and should be competed in time for February half term. Here’s what it will look like.
Down on the farm
Meanwhile, over the road we’ve been busy adding some new themed exhibits and laying paths so you’ll be able to walk around more of our outdoor paddocks. We hope to complete most of the work by the end of Spring and we’ll bring you further updates but here’s a taster of what we’re up to.
Giraffe Heights
Our giraffe enclosure has had a makeover replacing the signage installed back in 2009 when giraffes first arrived at Folly Farm. We think it looks really fresh and funky so check it out on your next visit!
Pedal tractors
We’ve got 30 large and 20 small, brand new Massey Ferguson pedal tractors that will be ready and waiting for your little farmers to enjoy this February half term!
The essentials
OK, so they might be the most exciting of photos but these are the kind of projects which keep us looking tip top and ready for visitors! A new patio area at Cwtch Coffee, a new covered seating area outside Funfair Foods will be a wonderful addition, providing outdoor cover from both the sun and the rain and our continual upgrade programme for our toilets sees new flooring laid in the Jolly Barn and Go Kart toilets. It’s not rocket science but it’s essential!
