Begin your Asian Adventure by stepping into a whole zone themed around the Orient.
On our raised walkway you’ll be eye-level with our adorable breeding pair of red pandas – Lotus and Baika. They’ve really got the ahhh-factor and you’ll love seeing them climb trees and curl up in their raised houses.
Our Asian wild dogs, otherwise known as dholes or to us as Noel, Mole, Joel and Cole, bring a splash of colour to Asia as they play, dig and scamper about their enclosure.
Our leopard cat, Ping will delight you with her playful nature.
On Pelican Lake you’ll see our pink-backed pelicans – Elvis, Priscilla, Hank, Memphis and Presley, our pink-backed pelicans.
Helping red pandas
We’re lucky to have a breeding pair of red pandas under a European endangered species breeding programme (EEP). The global red panda population has declined by 50% over the last 20 years and it’s now thought there might be as few as 2,500 left in the wild. Hopefully, our red pandas will breed once they’ve settled into their new enclosure but our conservation efforts don’t stop there as we also support our conservation partner Red Panda Network to monitor and protect red pandas in their native habitat through the sponsorship of forest guardians and the funding of a community-based red panda conservation initiative in Nepal which includes research, education, habitat protection and restoration, anti-poaching and sustainable livelihood programs.
