Could it be love at last for lonely penguin Marmalade?

Could our new arrival be ‘the one’ for single gal Marmalade?

Female Humboldt penguin Marmalade hatched at Folly Farm in 2021 along with pals Peru and Paddington. When her friends paired up with each other, Marmalade was left playing third wheel and has been the only female penguin that hasn’t managed to find love at Penguin Coast.

Marmalade has been looking for love

To find the right partner for Marmalade, the European Studbook Keeper for the species has been on the look out for a suitable mate.

Marmalade has been looking for ‘the one’

Blenny, a two year old Humboldt penguin from Twycross Zoo arrived at Penguin Coast last week as part of the European Breeding Programme for the species through our membership with EAZA. Could the ‘new bird on the block’ be the right match for lonely Marmalade?

Could it be happily ever after for Marmalade with the arrival of young male ‘Blenny’?

Blenny settled in quickly at his new Folly home after his long journey – and enjoyed meeting his new friends and taking a swim in the pool straight away.  We’ll certainly  be keeping our flippers crossed for a perfect pairing for Marmalade and Blenny. Watch this space!

Let’s hope it’s a match!
