Farm Certification

Heath and safety certification for the farm provides further assurance for visitors.

Our farm managers, Jane Hill and Kim Brickell, recently took part in the National Farm Attractions Network (NFAN) Industry Code of Practice (ICOP) on Preventing or controlling Ill Health from Animal Contact. The webinar covers how farm attractions can plan and manage animal contact areas versus non-animal contact zones, risk assessments, staff training and ways to educate the public about safety when in contact with animals.

This course, alongside our own internal risk assessments, training programmes and duty of care, as well as our annual external NFAN inspection as part of the Animal Assured Attraction Scheme (AAAS) Certification, all make sure excellent health and safety standards are top of mind for our management and their team. In fact, ahead of the main season, Kim has also recently conducted some internal refresher training across our farm and zoo on zoonotic diseases and best practice.

Farm Manager Kim Brickell proudly shows off her NFAN certificate

“Health and safety is always top of mind for our attraction to keep visitors and our animals safe. Taking part in Industry Code of Practice Webinars are a great way to keep our knowledge fresh and to share best practice amongst the industry.”
