We caught up with HR officer Kimberley Low about the HR qualification she’s enrolled on.
So, Kimberley you’ve recently started your CIPD Level 5 qualification – what exactly is this all about?
“The CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel Development) is a professional body for HR and people development. They accredit and award professional HR qualifications and set standards for HR to champion better work and working lives. When I started working within HR I always had my eye set on completing a CIPD accredited course so I’m thrilled that I now have the opportunity.”
Why did you want to undertake this particular course – it sounds tough?
“Whilst at University the areas of study I enjoyed most were focused on HR and how people contribute to the running of a business. Although I had covered some areas of HR during my degree, I wanted more in-depth knowledge. With this qualification I can work and learn, the opportunity to develop my skill set alongside my role suits me perfectly as I can put what I’ve learnt straight into practice.”
How will this be useful to you in the future?
“Undertaking this course will be really useful as it will give me a more in depth understanding into how HR principles can contribute to an organisations success. It will also further my skills and knowledge which should help me carry out my role at Folly Farm effectively, and champion a positive work environment.”
And finally, what’s your favourite attraction at Folly?
“If I had to choose it would be the fairground because I love all the music, lights, smell of doughnuts and just think it’s a really fun area of the park to be in!”
Good luck with the course Kimberley – we look forward to hearing more about it soon.
