Looking for the positives in everything, lockdown provided the perfect opportunity for our team to upskill!
During what has been a challenging year some members of the team have been keeping busy upskilling and completing qualifications. As well as keeping the office in tip top order and spreading cheer across the team during these uncertain times, our office administrator Lee has managed to complete a Business Admin Level 4 qualification. So, we thought we’d ask him all about it.
Why did you decide to undertake a Business Admin qualification?
“Even though I have my university degree I wanted to develop my skill set and complete a qualification relevant to the career I’m pursuing in administration. In 2018 I completed the Admin Level 3 qualification and really enjoyed it so my tutor Michelle encouraged me to take the next step and go for the Level 4 – it was tough but I’m glad I did!”
What did the qualification involve?
“I undertook 19 units that varied from business ethics to managing an office facility, and even professional development. It involved course work, written assignments, observations and discussions – every module varied.”
Was it helpful?
“Yes – I valued learning theory relating to my job role and putting them into practice. 2020 has been all about change and completing this course has given me the confidence to update our systems and procedures in the office, utilising time better and working efficiently. This has been super helpful this year with the added administration involved with the new holiday park and the customer engagement required regarding our Covid-secure re-opening.”
Will you complete another course in future?
“Who knows! For now I’m going to enjoy a well-deserved break from studying and continue with putting what’s been learnt through the course into practice.”
And finally, what’s your favourite attraction at Folly?
“I love the new Asian Adventure area, especially the red panda’s – they’re cute.”
Many of our visitors will have had contact with Lee on the phone or by email or received an adoption pack sent by him…well here he is!
Awesome job Lee! Well done on not only running a busy office (especially when we re-opened after lockdown!) but also managing to complete your qualification – we’re super proud.
