Come along to the Jolly Barn, where even the smallest children can see some of our best-loved animals. We’re proud to be the first, and currently only, Welsh farm park to gain Rare Breed Survival Trust approval.

The Jolly Barn was once the farm’s dairy parlour, but now it’s a firm favourite with families.

Part of our farm park, it’s the perfect place to introduce your little ones to farm animals for the first time. Check the blackboard in the Jolly Barn for our “Meet and Greet” daily timetable for a chance to get up close to some of our friendliest barn animals.

Who’s in the Jolly Barn?

You’ll find almost every farm animal you can think of. From ferrets and fancy mice to miniature ponies, shire horses, donkeys and goats. They’re all in the Jolly Barn. And, of course, no farm would be complete without lambs, hens and chicks. You can also milk the cows – well our lifelike plastic models!

Over the road, there’s The Piggery plus alpacas, turkeys, goats, giant rabbits, ducks and more goats and sheep in our rare breed paddocks which you can walk around or take the land train tour.

So we have plenty of space for lots of children to enjoy. They’ll also learn something, too – about how these animals live, and the rare breeds we keep.

And we look after hygiene too, with plenty of hand-washing facilities and regular cleaning of touchpoints. So, you don’t have to worry, just make sure you regularly wash your hands! We’re an Animal Attraction Assured Attraction, so find out more about how we keep you safe at Folly Farm.

Feeding time on the farm

You can make a visit to our farm extra special by booking one of our farm animal experiences. You can go behind the scenes in the Jolly Barn to meet and feed our lambs and goat kids. Plus you’ll be able to quiz our Jolly Farmers about the work they do with the animals under their care.

A visit to Folly Farm is already a fun-filled day out but these one-off special experiences are the icing on the cake for a special occasion or as an unusual and unique gift for an animal mad friend or family member. They’re the kind of experience you’ll never forget!

Rare Breed Survival Trust (RBST)

We’re proud to be the only farm attraction in Wales to hold RBST approval.

We’ve been approved by the Rare Breed Survival Trust for efforts and contribution to conserving rare breeds of livestock.

The Rare Breed Survival Trust (RBST) is a national charity working across the UK to safeguard the future of rare and native livestock and equine breeds. It aims to reverse the decline of all livestock breeds listed on their watchlist and to have all the breeds on the watchlist in a stable position by 2028.

Our farm currently houses eight priority breeds such as the Exmoor pony and ten at risk breeds including the Saddleback pig. We also house many rare and traditional Welsh breeds such as Welsh harlequin ducks, Welsh pigs, Welsh Mountain Balwen sheep and Torwen Welsh badger faced sheep.

Meet our farm animals

We’ve got a whole host of farm animals for you to see at Folly Farm. From all your farmyard favourites in the Jolly Barn to our less well known rare breeds in our paddocks over the road.
